Connecting Your Phone Number With WhatsApp.
Before we start: Understanding WhatsApp Business API
There are 3 categories of WhatsApp:
- WhatsApp Consumer (most personal use)
- WhatsApp Business (used by small businesses and real estate agents)
- WhatsApp Business Platform/API (designed for large multinational companies)
To send automated messages (for follow-ups, appointment reminders, etc.) at scale and to leverage AI for chat processing, you need to use the WhatsApp Business API (WABA).
At ABC Salesbot, it's FREE to connect your phone number with the WhatsApp Business API and there's no extra charge to connect additional phone numbers.
When you use the WhatsApp Business API for customer service—with customers initiating contact and you replying within 24 hours—there’s no charge from WhatsApp!
Key Considerations:
24 Hours Window:
You can manually reply within 24 hours of your customer's message. Outside this window, messages must use pre-approved templates (which may incur a cost).Outreach using Templates:
Templates (approved usually within 5 minutes, except for new accounts) are categorized as marketing, utility, or authentication. As a rule, a follow-up costs around USD $0.10 per lead per day. For a typical multi-day campaign, the cost remains minimal.Number Usage Restrictions:
A number registered for the WhatsApp Business API cannot simultaneously be used on normal WhatsApp/WhatsApp Business. If you connect an existing number, you must delete its account (losing its chat history). Therefore, using a new phone number is recommended.
❌ Do NOT install WhatsApp on the new number. Once connected to the API, you will use the ABC Sales AI App for all communication.
Setup Process via Meta Business Manager:
- Path: Meta Business Portfolio → WhatsApp Business Account → WhatsApp Profile (Phone Number)
- Each Meta Business Portfolio can initially have about 2 WhatsApp Business Accounts, each with 2 numbers.
- Each number starts with a limit (e.g., 250 messages per day) which can increase (up to 1000) once your business is verified.
- Verify your business portfolio (e.g., via SSM/ACRA info) to potentially increase these limits.

Pre-Check Before Starting Onboarding
- WhatsApp Business API Ready Phone Number:
Use a phone number that has never been linked to WhatsApp. If reusing a number, delete its WhatsApp account first (note: chat history will be lost). Ensure the number can receive SMS/calls (disable DND). - Website Requirements:
Your website must be active and clearly reflect your business name and category. - Facebook Business Manager Account:
Ensure your Business Manager account is active and in good standing.

WhatsApp Business API Onboarding Steps:
- Step 1: Begin the Onboarding Process
- Navigate to
app.abcsalesbot.com/messaging-channels
, click the Meta WhatsApp icon, and then “Login with Facebook.” - Select the Business Portfolio you want to link or create a new one. When creating a new portfolio, enter your business name exactly as shown on your website.

- Step 2: Phone Number Verification
- Enter the phone number you wish to use.
- Choose to verify via Text SMS or Call.
- Enter the received 6-digit code.
- Step 3: Completion
- Wait for the system to verify your details and display your daily messaging limit.
- Click Finish and wait for the “Connected Successfully” pop-up before proceeding.

Do’s & Don’ts for Smooth Onboarding:
✅ Do:
- Use a new phone number that has never been linked to any WhatsApp service.
- Ensure your website is active and consistent with your business details.
- Disable “Do Not Disturb” to receive SMS or calls required for verification.
- Wait for the success confirmation pop-up before concluding the onboarding process.
❌ Don’t:
- Do NOT install WhatsApp on the new number.
- Do NOT use a number that is already linked to WhatsApp (delete its account first if necessary).
- Do NOT use an inactive or broken website.
- Do NOT close or navigate away before receiving the confirmation.
Common Issues & Fixes:
- "Your phone number is not eligible":
Verify the number isn’t connected to an existing WhatsApp account. If it is, delete the account and try again after a few hours. - "No SMS or call received":
Check that your phone can receive messages, disable DND, and try call verification mode if necessary. - "Account Disabled Due To Business Name Mismatch":
Ensure your business name on your Facebook Business Manager matches your website. - "Onboarding Session Expired or Failed":
Restart the process immediately if the session times out. Close any interfering pop-ups before retrying.
